1. How can I enrol my child for this season, and what do I need to do

Follow the link above to the Mysideline page, where you can create a profile for your child. After creating the player’s profile, you can choose the age-appropriate team and complete the registration. Please use a current professional-looking headshot for your child, and ensure all required details, including an uploaded photo, are provided. One profile should be created per child. |

2024 Registrations for Rugby League and Girls Tag have commenced. Simply click the provided link and follow the steps as described to complete the registration process.

3. The link is taking me to the Mysideline home page – is this correct?
|
Yes, that is correct! All players must be registered with NRL Mysideline to participate in our club. To ensure registration approval, the NRL requires a recent passport-style photo (head shot, front on, no hats/sunglasses, etc.) and a current form of identification (birth certificate or valid passport; expired passports are not accepted).

4. What are the dates for the 2024 Season?
|
For under 6s – 13s, the season starts on 6th April 2024. For under 14s and above, the season begins on 27th April 2024.

5. Do I need to pay for uniforms as well? | No, uniforms are included in your registration fees, along with insurance.

6. How many games does our team typically play per season? | The number of games depends on the number of rounds in the season. In the 2023 season, we had 15 Rounds excluding the Finals series.

7. Where is MVR Home ground field, and where do our players train and play? | Our home ground is located at Bishop St Newport, next to Lucky & Peps off Barrenjoey road. Players train here once per week, and home games are played at our grounds. The facilities include well-maintained fields, a clubhouse, equipment shed, and canteen. Our Home ground is located on Google Maps here. |
8. What if my child has another commitment on one weekend?

While commitment to the team is crucial, we understand there may be unavoidable family or individual commitments. If you cannot make it to a game due to a prior commitment, inform your coach and team manager as soon as possible to make necessary arrangements.

9. What if my child cannot attend the dedicated training night?
|
Training is a vital part of being a team. Showing commitment to training fosters game fluency, team fitness, bonding, and important techniques for skill development. All registered players are required to attend training and commit to their team’s requirements.

10. What is expected from our family?
|
MVR expects families to join the fun, excitement, and togetherness offered by our club. Active involvement is encouraged, and at home games, family members are asked to contribute one hour of help towards BBQ or canteen duties. This engagement supports the club spirit, connects parents, and aids in club funding. Maintain positivity and refrain from sideline coaching. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in de-registration from the team. Mona Vale Raiders represent a supportive, inclusive, and professional club at all times, and wearing our MVR uniform is a privilege to uphold to the highest standards.

11. Is there a team manager?
|
Yes, there will be a dedicated team manager, coach, and assistant coach, usually parent volunteers with a passion for organization, fitness, and commitment to training and guiding the kids throughout the season. Team leaders will be notified once teams are finalized. All managers are required to have a Working with Children check. Once teams are formed, your manager will set up a team chat and communicate regarding the team and training times. |
12. Can my child join with their friends who are already in a team? | Yes, if there is space available in that particular team. Grouping friends together is considered on a request and case-by-case basis. |
13. Can we start our own team with a group of friends? | Yes, potentially, depending on the number of teams already in the age group. Inquiries can be made via email to info@monavalerugbyleague.com.au. |
14. Can I be a coach – what does that involve?

Yes, if you believe you have what it takes to coach a team, you can volunteer. Contact our club Secretary via email secretary@monavalerugbyleague.com.au. Coaches must complete an NRL Community Rugby League eLearning module, attend a Face-to-Face Workshop, and have a Working with Children Check. |
15. What if my child is sick on game day?
|
If your child becomes ill on game day and needs medical attention, report to your coach, who will direct you to first aid at the grounds. If your child wakes up sick and cannot attend, keep your child home, seek medical attention, and notify your coach and team manager immediately for replacement arrangements. |
16. What if we join but have a pre-planned holiday?
|
Commitment to your team is vital. If you have a pre-booked holiday in the middle of the season that will impact your team, discuss with the president before registering. The club understands the importance of family time and does not schedule games during school holidays, reducing potential conflicts. It is advisable to reach out for clarification if you are concerned about dates clashing. |
17. Does MVR have mixed teams?
|
Yes, the sport promotes inclusiveness. Tackle teams can include both male and female players from Under 6 – Under 12s. Females over 13 can join a tackle team playing against female-only teams. Blues Tag is specifically a female tag competition. |
18. How long does a game go for?
|
Game durations vary by age category: – Tackle:
Under 6s to Under 9s = 4 x 8 minute quarters, Under 9s to Under 12s = 2 x 20 minute halves, Under 13’s to Under 15s = 2 x 25 minute halves, Under 16s,17s,18s, 20s = 2 x 30 minute halves. Blues Tag: Under 9s to Under 12’s = 2 x 20 minute halves, Under 14 to Under 18s = 2 x 25 minute halves. Half-time breaks in all competitions are 10 minutes whistle to whistle maximum. |
19. Is there first aid available at each game? | Yes, safety is a priority. A certified first aid representative is present at every game. Qualified trainers are required to undergo NRL LeagueSafe or First Aid Courses. First Aid is provided for Under 6 – Under 12s, and trainers are encouraged to do the NRL First Aid course |

21. Can I work at the Canteen or on the BBQ? | Yes! During home ground games, two members/parents/friends from each team are encouraged to volunteer for one hour before their child’s team. It’s an excellent way to meet others and contribute to the club. For more permanent roles, contact the president. |
22. How do I volunteer at the club?

There are various ways to volunteer, including working on the canteen/BBQ, being a linesperson, helping with events, setting up/packing down equipment, becoming a committee member, or taking on roles like coach, manager, referee, or first aid officer. 23. How do I become a committee member?
|
We encourage new members to volunteer as part of our Mona Vale Raiders community. Committee members are announced annually at our presentation, and new nominations are accepted throughout the year. Contact our president for more information on these positions. |
24. How do I become a sponsor? | Local businesses interested in sponsoring our club can reach out to our club secretary at secretary@monavalerugbyleague.com.au for details on sponsorship opportunities and the different levels available. |
25. How do I become a trainer?

If you want to become a Trainer, contact our club Secretary via email secretary@monavalerugbyleague.com.au to connect with our Tackle and Tag Coaches Coordinators. Trainers need to complete an NRL Community Rugby League eLearning module, attend a Face to Face Workshop, and have a Working with Children Check. It is recommended that all Trainers have a minimum League First Aid Accreditation. |
26. Can I become a referee?

Referees must be over 13 years of age. To become a referee, complete an online NRL Community Rugby League eLearning module and attend a referees workshop.
