Grand Finals!!!!

Congratulations to our 3 grand finalists who played some great footy on Saturday:
– the U14s are the 2015 premiers after beating Asquith in a hard fought, highly entertaining game that had the crowd roaring.
– the U10m side were runners up to Beacon Hill but really challenged them for most of the game with some desperate defence and excellent tries.
– the U10w side tried their hearts out, scored some nice tries and came off smiling – also finished runners up, to Christian Bros.

Our U8 teams also had a terrific taste of things to come by playing their last game at Brookvale Oval on the grand finals weekend. There were smiles for ear to ear on the faces of players, parents and grand parents – I think they’ll all be back next year.

However, I want to say how proud I am of all our teams at the Raiders – you play hard but fair, with respect and great sportsmanship . . . and that’s what it’s really all about! It was especially rewarding to see the tremendous efforts of all our coaches and trainers over the season really paying off, with their team’s continually improving fitness, skills, teamwork and camaraderie. To hear everyone from U6 to the 14’s singing the “we are the Raiders, we tackle and we run . . . we are the Raiders, we have fun, fun, fun” song after a victory, always puts a smile on your face.

As well it was fantastic to see the huge compliment paid to our referees – Nathan Roach, Lachie James, Luke Trbojevic and Oscar Murphy who were appointed as the referees for the U9, U11, U12 and U13 Division 1 grand finals, and also to Ben Trbojevic, Angus O’Donnell, Christian Gurney, Callum James and Patrick Gaynor who were touch judges. They all performed extremely well under pressure in their respective games – so well done boys!

To cap it off Ross James did a tremendous job as the senior First Aid Officer for all games at Brooky on both Saturday and Sunday. With John T and I also helping out as Ground Managers all day Saturday, there is no doubt the Raiders played an important part in the 2015 grand finals being a great success.

See you on Presentation Day – Sunday, October 18
Gooooooo Raiders!!
